In The Tropics

Shorts have been my go-to staple this summer. It may seem obvious, but with the multitude of different options available this year, it's been easy move beyond the classic denim short look, which of course, I still love.

I picked up these palm-print shorts last month during Zara's summer sale, and I'm so glad I did. To my surprise, I have found them to be quite versatile, even playing nicely with Mr. Flamingo - who has had a strong run this summer as well - evidence here & here

What have been your summer staples this year?

h&m blazer / sincerely jules tee (on sale!) / zara shorts, similar / michael kors watch / old navy bucket bag / kelsi dagger sandals, similar

Sunday Browsing vol. 18

Happy Sunday peeps! Can you believe it's August?! I for one am a little saddened by this fact considering July felt more like September, and therefore I'm feeling a bit robbed. Yes, I know, fall is great and I can't wait to hunting for the perfect pumpkin, but when you live in Ohio, summer is a precious season. The real problem? My tan is seriously suffering. I know, #firstworldproblem. I'll spare you the rest of the 10 minute rant that my husband was subjected to - instead, enjoy some links!
  • to read: loved Emily's post on how to feel more confident. Can we just hold hands and say the struggle is real here people?
  • to be impressed: be prepared for your jaw to drop. Natalie's deck makeover is amazing, as in I would totally live out there amazing. Check it out and I know you'll agree.
  • to drink: I think this lemon-basil mojito is the perfect drink to accompany the last weeks of summer.
  • to shop: I fell in love with this pink number as soon as I saw it in on the page anthropologie's latest catalog. Speaking of accessories, how adorable is this backpack?! And such a steal!
  • to decorate: Domaine Home shared two great articles for all of us apartment dwellers this week - how to renovate a rental under $100 &
  • to blog: yesterday I discovered Mary's blog, The Classy Cubicle and have already spent a few too many minutes scrolling through all of her amazing posts. She has such a great way of wearing current trends in a way that is 100% office appropriate. Serious props are deserved.

Killer Combos // Crop Top & Midi Skirt

matching: crop top & midi skirt
monochromatic: crop top & midi skirt
print mix: crop top & midi skirt

Alright, confession time - who watched the premiere of Sharknado 2 last night? Now remember, Santa's watching. The husband and I opted for another episode of OITNB, but I actually was a slight bit jealous when we received a text from his siblings in showcasing their premiere party complete with shark-shaped watermelon and adult-beverage soaked adult gummies.

To the task at hand! Ever since I dipped my feet in the shallow end of the crop top pool, I have been exploring other ways to style the trend. Inspired by Liz's look, I love the idea of a crop top & midi skirt combo. With a midi skirt hitting below the knee, it seems like the perfect balance to a more revealing top.

What are your favorite ways to style a crop top?

Happy Birthday, Clothed in Confetti!

It's incredibly hard to believe that a year ago today I opened up my little corner of the internet to share with whoever may stop by. It feels like I've been sharing my thoughts & slices of my life for what seems like years. Time is a funny thing, isn't it?

To those who are just passing by and those that are kind enough to check in regularly, thank you times a million. The thought that even one person would read anything I post is silly to me, but I'm more appreciative then you know. After thinking about starting a blog for a year before finally pulling the trigger, these past 12 months have been a lesson in follow-through, learning to prioritize, and how to disregard what others may think (hey, taking outfit photos is weird no matter where you are).

Here's to another year! I hope you'll follow along.

Wrapped

As much as I love discovering and trying new trends, time and time again I find that some of my favorite outfits are those built on a basic white tee. After returning home from a surprise celebration yesterday, I threw on my favorite wardrobe staples and decided to concel my day-old hair (shhh, our secret) with and old scarf disguised as a head-wrap.

blank nyc jacket / j.crew tee (on sale!) / gap jeans / old navy bucket bag / husband's watch / scarf worn as headband, last seen here / kensie sandals, love these

Sunday Browsing vol. 17

Happy Sunday friends of mine! I hope your weekend was filled with fun, laughter, and some sun!

You guys, my weekend was pretty amazing. I've mentioned before how much I adore my girlfriends, and this weekend was only continued to prove that I'm blessed with the best of friends. I went to visit a friend on Saturday, and when I arrived to her house I was surprised with a "blogiversary" party in anticipation of this little site turning one on Tuesday.

I mean seriously, aren't they the bomb? I'm honestly still in awe of how blessed I am by them. I plan to spend the rest of my weekend reflecting on life's little moments & relaxing, hope you get to do the same!

Killer Combos // A Blazer & Shorts

one: mango blazer / j.crew tee (my fav!) / topshop shorts
two: target vest / mango top / mango shorts
three: h&m blazer / zara tee / madewell shorts

I realized I had a problem the other day when I instantly bookmarked this post by Kat because I was head over heels for her laid-back distressed denim & blazer combo, and then found I had taken a screen shot of a very similar look posted on instagram, pinned this and this, and finally when I was working on this very post last night, looked up at my bulletin board to find a page I had torn from an old madewell catalog that featured the same blazer & shorts combo. #yikes. At least I'm consistent?

There is something about the pairing of a structured blazer with summer's wardrobe staple that looks effortless and fresh, which makes my little fashion heart sing. What looks do you find yourself gravitating to over & over again?
