Color Crave // Sunflower Yellow

A few weeks ago I was walking through H&M and spotted a sunflower yellow top (couldn't find it online!) that I couldn't get enough of, and of course, wasn't smart enough to buy. It got a big "thumbs down" from the husband, but it got me thinking about the void of yellow in my closet.

While bright (big bird) yellow (fun fact - my college kitchen was this color!) can be difficult to pull off, sunflower yellow feels much more wearable. I'm particularly excited about this color as we jump feet-first into fall, since it plays so nicely with deep, saturated hues such as navy or a deep crimson.

What are your thoughts, are you on board the sunflower yellow train? PS-happy first day of fall!

GameDay Revisited

Here's the hard hitting truth: I am the world's worst alumna. I graduated from (The) Ohio State and while I had the best time of my life, when it comes to caring about the Scarlet & Grey charging down the field, I would much rather watch the band perform at halftime. This meme that one of my best friends sent me pretty much sums up my sentiments.

Now, what I can get behind? An all-day excuse to hang out with friends, eat terrible-for-you food and of course, throw together an outfit. Perhaps a midi-skirt isn't the most appropriate option for tailgating, but it is for inevitable gameday dinner date that I am sure is in my future this season.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

By Sunday morning, I'm usually experiencing a classic case of closet fatigue. Which means, coupled with the fact that I'm usually on track to be 10 minutes late to church, I don't have it in me to think too much about what the day's outfit will entail.

For mornings such as these, I usually find myself reaching for one of my favorite wardrobe colors - white. Call me boring, but it's just so easy and versatile, you can't beat it. Therefore, I was pretty thrilled to stumble across this white top while shopping the sale section at j.crew a few weeks ago. Oh and PS - it's still on sale!

Fall Wardrobe Essentials // 90's Grunge

1. zara top / 2. bauble bar necklace / 3. madewell boyfriend jeans / 4. goodnight macaroon tee / 5. nasty gal sunglasses/ 6. topshop vest / 7. abercrombie leather jacket / 8. pixie market skirt / 9. zara dress / 10. h&m hat / 11. front row skirt /12. nasty gal fanny pack

While I was out and about last weekend, I noticed two girls rocking a look that included a flannel shirt tied around their waist. Which got me to thinking about the resurgence of the 90's that seems to be slowly sweeping over retail. And you know what, I'm kinda loving it. I mean if you can't get behind an ode to the decade that introduced us to B-Spears, NSYNC and the Titanic, what can you get behind?

So for fall, I'm making sure to include 90's grunge-inspired pieces like what's featured above to my wish-list. Not fully committed? Try getting your feet wet by incorporating one or two pieces like a classic plaid shirt or a band tee. Need a little inspiration? Check out this and this.

So, um this is awkward. New York Fashion Week has been in full swing for almost a week now and I think someone must of forgotten my number or e-mail address because I have yet to receive an invite. Not to worry though, I'm sure my main gal Jenna Lyons will be sending a jet to scoop me up this morning so as not to miss the J.Crew presentation. I mean, we share the same name so naturally we're BFFs, right?

Riiiigghht. Have no fear, I'm not holding my breath for a fashion week invite, but a girl's allowed to dream. Fashion week is hands-down my favorite time of the year on the interwebs, I love re-watching all of the shows and of course the street style is just as good. So today I thought I'd have a little fun and put together a few looks I'd be sure to pack in my suitcase if I was headed to experience all of fashion week's glory.

Confetti Chronicles // 36 Hours in Cincinnati

Happy Monday peeps! After a weekend that was un-characterstically jam-packed with plans, I'm feeling a bit sad to be heading back to reality today. Anyone feel me?

On Saturday night, one of my best friends (pictured above, isn't she gorgeous?!) attended dîner en blanc, an all-white attire french celebration that is hosted in a handful of cities around the world. It was quite the classy affair, and we almost played the part. Aside from completely forgetting plates (it's a picnic-style dinner) and accidentally snorting champagne up my nose, we fit right in. Like I said, almost.

It was an amazing time, and since the location is a surprise this year, it was such a treat to end up at fountain square in the middle of downtown Cincinnati. We ate, drank, danced the night away (naturally) & even made a few new friends!

We capped off the weekend by twisting and turning upside down at King's Island, an amusement park, thanks to some free-99 tickets from work. Here's to hoping this week flys by because weekends are just too good.

Fall Wardrobe Essentials // Distressed Denim

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

Since Labor Day weekend has come and gone, I have been kindly reminding my friends and family that it is not yet fall, despite what the pumpkin spice latte has to say. Why the reluctance? Did anyone forget that winter follows fall?! Giving into fall means we are one step closer to winter. Clearly the emotional wound that I have from one too many polar vortexes has not yet healed.

Weather issues aside, one aspect of fall I can easily get behind is a wardrobe change and refresh - and with that, brings fall wardrobe essentials!

It seems like everywhere I turn lately I am attracted to various versions of distressed denim. Maybe it's because it seems like they provide endless possibilities or maybe because they seem to be a major component in exuding a cool-girl vibe. Either way, I'm totally digging 'em.

PS - happy fashion week! I'm pretty pumped to stalk all of the street style and shows, who is your favorite to follow? I'm planning on a little fashion week inspired post for tomorrow, too! (cross your fingers that is actually  happens #yikes)

Just Vest It

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a long weekend that was equal parts relaxing and fun, wouldn't it be amazing if every weekend was three days long? A girl can dream.

Every time it's near the change of a season, I find myself starring blankly at my closet feeling a little a little bored with everything I lay my eyes on - yeah I know, another #firstworldproblem ( I have a lot of  'em). As a result, I've been reaching for my collection of vests to make old outfits feel new again.
