Late Adopter

Clearly, I cannot be considered an early adopter, as evidenced by my hesitancy to the 70's trend and now, flatforms. When flatforms first made an appearance I almost instantly wrote them off because they seemed far too clunky for my liking. However, when I stumbled across this pair from topshop I surprised myself when I added them to my cart and actually pulled the trigger.

I've had my flatforms for about a week now and I honestly can't get enough. The built in platform means they're comfortable and the embellished details seems to soften an otherwise bulky exterior.

Have you tried flatforms? I'd love to know your thoughts! If you're intrigued, I've linked a few of my favorite pairs below.

Sunday Browsing vol. 40

Happy Sunday! It's been nothing but rain & fall-like temps here all weekend, so I'm crossing my fingers that you are enjoying some sunshine while reading this for me.

As a result of the weather, I've spent the majority of my weekend catching up on unfortunate adult responsibilities such as cleaning, but was able to sneak away for a trip to the farmers market with my Aunt and dinner with my Mom. 3 cheers for family!

Here's a few links I'm loving this week, what has been your fave?!

to shop:
  • i usually shy away from maxi dresses, but this post is making me reconsider.
  • if you are a fan of rebecca minkoff, i suggest you stop what you're doing and go check out their sale immediately.
  • do yourself a favor and check out the new fashion e-commerce brand, a common space. the clothes are on-point & affordable!
  • how adorable is this scallop shift dress?

& a few more for fun:
  • i was instantly hooked after listening to leon bridges for the first time last sunday. check him out & let me know what you think!
  • we're moving later this summer and our new apartment is challenged in the kitchen seating department, i'll definitely be referencing this post on 5 ways to create small space dining areas
  • i can't get enough of caitlyn jenner & her story which means i will definitely be tuning in to her reality show in a month - see the trailer here

It's All in the Details {Off the Shoulder}

1. h&m / 2. topshop / 3. urban outfitters / 4. asos / 5. zara / 6. pixie market / 7. goodnight macaroon / 8. urban outfitters / 9. forever 21 / 10. asos / 11. topshop

With strappy bralettes & cutout tops, the back has definitely had it's moment in the sun the past few years as the body part to show off. However, the heavy influence of the 70's is illuminating the new must-show body part, the shoulder.

I must say, I was skeptical at first, but after wearing this dress I am a total convert - I am loving this top! I rounded up a few of my favorite off the shoulder tops, from strappy to traditional, preppy to boho and a few in between. Which one is your favorite?

Sunday Browsing vol. 39

Happy Sunday & Father's Day! While I'm not with my Dad today, I'm feeling extra fortunate because I got to spend the last 3 days with him and my family in Hershey, Pennslyvania (yes, like the candy bar) celebrating my Dad's accomplishment for work and enjoying some time together.

Sunday Browsing is back! And (hopefully) better then ever since I'm sharing even more of my favorite links to give you a little something extra to browse while your lounging by the pool.

to shop & beautify:
  • i've been swooning over this dress for a few weeks now, clearly i have an affinity for dresses with wings
  • i'm bookmarking these lace up sandals in hopes they go on sale.
  • how adorable is this fringe clutch? it would be the perfect statement piece to any outfit.
  • totally crushing on this midi dress that would transition perfectly from summer to fall.
  • RUN, don't walk, zara is having their semi-annual sale!
  • to my long haired ladies, this look is killer.
  • this article post on splurge vs. save face masks only fueled my desire to invest in a high quality mask even more.
to travel:
  • after visiting LA earlier this year for work, I'm dying to go back with the husband and therefore pinned Emily's updated guide to LA immediately.
  • coffee guide to New York City.

The 70's Revival

When the 70's first started making a revival on the runways, I was less then impressed. In the past, my wardrobe skewed preppy (thanks to my love for the Jenna Lyons) and the closest I came to channeling my inner flower child was my halloween costume in 6th grade.

Call me a push-over, but fast forward a few months and I can't seem to get enough of the billowy silohuettes, fringe details, fresh earth tones and lace-up sandals. This dress is the first of many 70's inspired looks that will be making their way to the blog thanks to a little binge-sesh I had with zara a few weeks back.

What are your thoughts on the 70's revival? If you need some inspiration, look no further then #chloegirls, my new fave obsession.

Girls in White Dresses

Even though my tan is nonexistent, my calendar is telling me that it is in fact summer, which means I feel the need to stalk up on as many dresses as humanly possible. As have been scouring the internet, I've noticed that time & time again I'm gravitating towards white dresses. It is seriously pathetic how many of my carts, sitting in shopper's purgatory, are filled with various versions of a white dress - midieyeletboho inspired, I don't seem to discriminate.

Sure, they may not be practical for the various wedding-related activities I have, but I've learned that the one benefit of growing up shifting a few events from bridal to baby showers means you can wear whatever you want (insert praise emoji here).

Effortless Sunday

Today's post (& yesterday's outfit) is brought to you by the hours I spent dancing in too high of heels on Saturday night. Why? Well, because after dancing for 4 hours, my feet would only think about moving if I promised tennis shoes. And despite the fact that I went to bed before midnight, I still woke up with an aching back and neck (#grandmastatus), meaning I needed an outfit that didn't require much thought. So tennis shoes, shorts & chambray with a side of bandana (my new fave trend) it was for a day of brunching with friends & catching up on life.

Now, as for the radio silence this past month - that was brought to you by my day job. Nothing exciting, just a couple of crazy weeks that required more time then normal at the office. Crossing my fingers that June is easier and I can spend more time on the good ole blog.
