Farmer Jane

Spring must have arrived, because wedding season is in full swing. This past weekend, I spent both Saturday & Sunday celebrating two of my college roommates upcoming weddings at bridal showers, and while everyone was dressed in feminine frocks something possessed me to channel my inner farmer jane.

Don't let me fool you though, this girl was born & raised in the great suburbs of the midwest and the only thing that I'm semi comfortable at involving the word 'farm' is a farmer's market. However, after seeing this look I feel in love with the idea of a wide brim hat and finally found one it my price range at nordstrom. It arrived in the mail on Friday and since I'm quite the eager beaver, I had to incorporate it into a weekend outfit.

It's All in the Details {High Neck}

(left to right)
dresses: missguided / h&m / leith / modcloth
tops: asos / mango / zara / topshop

A few weeks back I was in LA and noticed a detail that snuck it's way into almost every store and boutique I entered: high necklines. A fresh update to the halters I rocked in the 90's, high neck tops and dresses feel unexpected for warmer months, when necklines tend to plunge.

An added bonus, their perfect for concealing that inevitable first-time-in-the-sun chest burn. C'mon, I know you know what I'm talking about. Right?

What are your thoughts on the high neck trend?

Old Favorites

For unknown reasons, it has taken my longer then usual to get my spring wardrobe together this year. I haven't unpacked any of my spring/summer clothes from last year yet and I just can't seem to pull the trigger on a few shopping carts I have floating around the web.

As a result, I've had to get creative with my closet which has lead me to rediscover a few old friends, like this embellished top, that I had previously only reserved for colder months.

Sunday Browsing vol. 36

After months of nagging Mother Nature, she finally caved. I woke up to what dreams are made of - sun and 50 degree temperatures, which are making me feel like a new woman.

After a change of plans from the early arrival of my best friend's sweet daughter (can't wait to snuggle that little lady!), the weekend was spent catching up, going to bed early and indulging in a little al fresco dining with my mom.

Hope you had a restful weekend, here are a few of my favorite links:

Spring Style vol. 2 {Flirty & Feminine}

clockwise from top left: topshop romper / tuckernuck bracelets / j.crew skirt /  soludos espadrilles / topshop dress / asos sandals / j.crew hair tie / old navy tote / BP necklace / chicwish dress / h&m top / zara bag / zara top / baublebar earrings / sole society sunglasses

While it may be the most obvious choice as inspiration for spring wardrobes, a collection of flirty,  ultra feminine & colorful pieces still feels relevant in 2015; thanks to the endless amount of cheery prints, and flowy silhouettes that are in stores and online right now. Like a butterfly emerging from it's cocoon (drama, right?),  after a winter spent in black I am overly eager to bust out a palette of both pastels and brights.

Feminine details are the ultimate crowd pleaser (I mean, come on how adorable are these bow sandals?!) so make sure that your attitude matches your outfit as your sure to receive all the compliments.

Need a little flirty & feminine inspiration? It's the signature of JuliaLiz & Jess

Colors of Spring

After spending the back half of last week in LA for work (my current excuse of the radio silence around here), coming home to cooler temperatures wasn't high on my priority list. I'm pretty sure I texted my husband one too many times that we would be moving immediately. But can you blame me? This girl hadn't seen blue skies and 80 degrees in what felt like years, sunshine truly is the best medicine.

Luckily, by the time I got home late Saturday night, Mother Nature had decided to be kind enough to the midwest to allow me to comfortably wear a an outfit resembling an Easter egg and rediscover a few pieces that were hiding in the back of my closet.

PS - if you celebrate, hope you were able to enjoy a wonderful Easter with family & friends, He is Risen!
